A painter's perspective

This series is a unique glimpse into my mother's studio.

I came up to my mother's house with the intent of photographing her in her studio, as requested by Agora, the New York gallery that represents her. However, what I thought would be a 20-30 minute session of my mother posing "at work", turned into an hour of the two of us silently working around one another as we both fell into a creative trance. I ended up going a lot more interpretive with the images than I had initially imagined but, much as my mother describes her own creative flow, it was just what came through me that day.

My mother is a painter. Her style is most easily described as modern or abstract. You can see more of her work at artbytiril.com and I am working on a small interview and sampling of her paintings that will be posted here soon.
